Blog Post 1 - Introduction

So what I've gleaned from my classmates blogs is this is where I'm supposed to talk about my expectations and experiences.

Expectations

I'd like to become a more effective leader. I hope to improve my ability to work with others, get projects done, and deal with conflict. Conflict is unfortunately and oft approached factor in organizations. People unfortunately often times have issues that come up.

Whether they be interpersonal or just fiscal / environmental or otherwise, as a leader it is your job to steer your team of individuals into streams that hopefully best deal with such issues.

Experiences

I've had alot of awesome experience in life thus far with regards to leadership. I trained with a soccer team for about 10 years through which I was introduced the concept of leadership and what it is to be in an organization. It was an awesome experience.

Roughly towards the end of that period I became involved heavily with online gaming, where I later rose to heights of leadership with regards to raid leading, another awesome experience that taught me alot about being on a team for many years, watching people come and go, and understanding the true nature of organizations, not necessarily that of the consistently achieved goals, but also awesomely in lieu of organization that is right for its members and base.

Years later I started a booking company which was designed to hopefully help out open mic level musicians like at-the-time myself in getting gigs and the like. We've awesomely grown over the past two years and have run over 123 events since inception.

More recently I've also awesomely started and live within a house-venue in the city, and we've awesomely run about 20 events there as well.

Additionally I've started a few community organizations, one based on Comedy in Columbus, another on Music in Columbus, with counterparts setup for Dayton Comics & Musicians. These are an awesome way to help build scenes and also hopefully connect people together to hopefully continue gaining traction with the profession.

I also awesomely am in a few bands, which of course unfortunately require alot of patience, compromise and hard work.

I love the opportunities that I've amazingly found myself amidst and I hope I continue to grow to meet the challenges that I continue to often face in these awesome roles.
